Hi pals, I have lost 1.5 pounds since getting the RAI treatment (I-131) nearly a month ago. My vet ordered more lab tests per protocol after the I-131 procedure and we have learned today that the treatment did not work. Mom doesn't know what the next step is. She will talk with Blue Pearl tomorrow to see what they recommend. It's so rare for the treatment not to work that my vet doesn't know what to do so he wants mom to talk to Blue Pearl. I'm not eating much and that concerns mom. Please continue sending positive thoughts and prayers that I feel better soon. Thanks pals!
Love,
CJ
Sending many purrs CJ and hugs to your mommy! Have shared on Twitter xxx
ReplyDeleteCJ...darling precious boy. If love and prayers ca do it...it will be done. xoxoxoxox
ReplyDeleteSending these mega mega mega healing purrz your way and throwing in a pawcircle for good luck. Please eat something. I hope you won't have to shell out green papers for a treatment that didn't work.
ReplyDeleteOh, CJ, your human must be really worried. This happened to Rhett, one of the cats who came before us. The specialist where he had the I-131 treatment told us that it's not unusual to need a second treatment, enough that they had a reduced price schedule for it already in place. This made our humans really upset because everyone made it out like one treatment would fix everything.
ReplyDeleteIn Rhett's case, his being off of his thyroid meds for such an extended time before/during/after I-131 treatment caused him to start to show heart problems, and he was no longer a candidate for a second treatment. He spent the rest of his life on methimazole. So based on that experience, we think that you may get another I-131 treatment or go on meds, depending on other health factors.
Sending you and your human big purrs and hugs. We know firsthand how distressing this is to go through.
Mom's concerned I might develop heart problems because my heart rate has been elevated for weeks. We hope to start a new treatment plan soon. Whether that will be meds or another shot at the I-131 treatment we don't know yet. Thanks for the purrs and hugs!
DeleteI'm sending lots of purrs your way, CJ - that's awful that the treatment did not work. :-(
ReplyDeleteOh CJ. We're sorry to hear this. We hope your vet can figure out what best to do for you. We send you lots of purrs.

ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to hear the treatment did not work, how weird. We always assumed the treatment worked. Maybe you could get on the pills/medication. We are praying for you and your mom. We know 1st hand how hard this is. Please keep us updated as you can and let us know if we can do anything. We luv you! Purrs, prayers and positive thoughts.

DeleteVet gave me a B12 injection on Saturday and started me on a daily supplement in addition to the appetite stimulant I am on every 3rd day. I seem to eat well day one of the stimulant and then not so good for days 2-3. Hope the B12 treatment helps! Thanks for the continued positive thoughts and prayers!
DeleteI am sorry the treatment didn't work. I am praying for you.
